Having a good marriage takes work, but it’s worth the effort. Being intentional about spending time together is a vital part of having a strong and healthy relationship with your spouse. One great way to get that time is to plan regular date nights.
So what makes a great date night? Here are some tips:
- Try something new. Marriage can be full of routines, so doing something as simple as trying a new restaurant or activity can bring a breath of fresh air to your relationship.
- Take turns planning. One person doesn’t always need to be responsible for choosing a restaurant and activity and babysitter. Sharing the duties of date prep makes it easier for both of you to enjoy.
- Turn off your devices. Put the phone away, give your babysitter a special ringtone, and only answer if it’s that ringtone and you’re concerned. Fight the temptation to be gadget-centric and focus on the other person.
- Plan your conversation topics. (Hint: Don’t talk about the kids.) Talk about what you’re learning, where you want to travel, ask them what they wanted to be when they were little. No matter how long you’ve been married, there’s always something you didn’t know about your spouse.
Maybe that sounds great, but you’re having trouble getting along with your spouse and a date night seems like a stretch. If you’re having a tough time in your marriage, we’d love to pray with you. Just click the link below to request prayer!
