Tia, one of our amazing Host Team volunteers at Church Online, recently suffered a tragic loss—the unexpected death of her father due to sudden heart failure.
Just days later, while serving at Church Online, she had an unforgettable conversation with a man named Johannes from Germany. When she accepted his request for Live Prayer, she had no idea that God was about to use this tragic situation in her own life to bring hope and encouragement to someone thousands of miles away.
He told me that his father had suddenly passed away from heart failure this past week. This was the same way my dad passed away. He was just broken, and so was I.
My heart felt like my pain went away briefly as I ministered to him. I honestly don't know what I prayed, but before I even opened the prayer, I asked God to use me in spite of what was going on in my life. It was so crazy that God allowed me to share the hope I have that I haven't been able to grasp yet, but God's love is so real.I know my dad smiled at me that night.
I am reminded that God comforts us so that we can then comfort others.
You see, God never wastes a moment of our pain. As Tia said, he comforts us so that we can then comfort others. That’s what community is all about—seeking God’s restoration from our common brokenness.
Some of you are going to recognize this holiday season that you don’t have this kind of community in your life. If that’s you and you’re hurting today—or if just need to talk to someone who understands your pain—head to Church Online right now. Our community is waiting to encourage and pray with you!
