I am so grateful for the Stay Positive series because it’s true—life can be tough at times. And in those times, sometimes it takes more than just saying something nice, it requires a truth that fills our spirit with courage and hope.
There have been many times that I have let myself be discouraged because I wasn’t receiving encouragement from those around me. While it’s important to encourage those around us, I think it’s even more important for us to realize that our main source of encouragement needs to be God.
That’s why this week’s message was just what I needed to hear. Pastor Craig gave us clear next steps on what we need to do to not only be encouraged ourselves but how we can be an encouragement to others.
Here’s a quick recap. The three most spiritual things we can do are:
- Encourage others daily
- Encourage others spiritually
- Encourage yourself in the Lord
Can you imagine what would happen if we lived these three principles out daily? We would change the world! One of our core values here at Life.Church is this:
Jesus said in John 13:35 that this is how the world will know we are fully devoted followers of Christ – by truly loving those around us like Christ loved us. It is only out of the overflow of what we experience from Him that we can truly begin to encourage others.
Notice how two out of the three principles listed above are focused on others versus ourselves. If you are discouraged and feeling down and out, start encouraging someone around you and see how that changes your day. So why don’t you try it this week? Let this week be a week where you start this new discipline and I’d love to hear how your week goes after you make this change.
We have almost 70 discussion groups taking place at Church Online each week after every service. I’d love for you to join us. It’s a great way to meet others who are part of our community.
